Senate Democrats Announce Statewide Budget Listening Tour, Titled “They Cut You Out”

Over 80 Granite Staters Showed Up Last Night to Oppose Radical Republican Cuts

HAMPTON, NH — Following last night’s packed listening session in Hampton, Senate Democrats are expanding their efforts and launching a statewide tour—bringing the conversation about this dangerous budget directly to communities across New Hampshire. Senate Democrats will visit Laconia, Concord, Gorham, Merrimack, Andover, and Bedford over the coming weeks to bring people together and  highlight how this dangerous budget would hurt Granite State families and undermine the health, safety, and well-being of their communities.

Over 80 people joined Senate Democratic Leader Rebecca Perkins Kwoka and Senate Democratic Floor Leader Debra Altschiller to discuss this proposal that makes deep cuts to critical services while defending tax breaks for corporations and the ultra-wealthy.

“This budget isn’t just out of step — it’s out of touch,” said Perkins Kwoka. “It cuts out housing and childcare. It cuts out our towns who need to keep neighborhood schools strong. It cuts out our workforce, and small businesses as a result. It cuts out seniors, renters, and young people trying to stay in the communities they grew up in. Let me be clear: this budget cuts you out.”

Senate Democrats will host six stops over the next six weeks. The They Cut You Out Tour will focus on the many different ways the Republican legislature cut out working families while refusing to even listen to them.

“We invited our Republican colleagues to join us last night because we believe in showing up and listening,” added Perkins Kwoka. “They laughed the idea out of the room. It’s clear why. They cannot defend this budget and they are afraid to do so. Because over the past decade, Republicans have cut you out to make room for the ultra wealthy and out-of-state corporations. Now, the bill is coming due, and they are passing it off to hardworking Granite Staters.”
