Protecting Reproductive Freedoms
Protecting Reproductive Freedoms
It cannot be denied that the rights of women across the country are under attack. We have seen states move to enact restrictions on reproductive health care that can only be described as inhumane and, at times, even archaic. Also, we continue to await multiple court decisions that could have serious implications for Granite Staters’ access to reproductive health care. This constantly changing landscape has created fear and uncertainty across New Hampshire regarding reproductive freedom.
Recognizing this, the Senate Democrats have filed multiple pieces of legislation this term to protect a women’s right to choose and expand access to care. Instead of working with us to do so, Senate Republicans rejected placing the question of a right to an abortion on the ballot and moved to develop a reporting system on every single individual receiving abortion care in the state that will also require an ultrasound be performed at every abortion, regardless of the stage of pregnancy.
The Senate Democrats know that Granite Staters want women to have their rights protected and that they trust women to make decisions about their own health. Regardless of the obstacles we face, the Senate Democrats will never give up the fight to kick politicians out of the exam room once and for all.
